Kent vs Dorset - Liberty Report
Monday 8th February 2016 1:49pm | Match Reports
Kent progressed to the semi final of the Liberty Trophy on Saturday when we had a convincing victory against Dorset, with the game being played at Victory Indoor Bowls Club in Portsmouth. This was sweet revenge on Dorset as they put us out of the competition at this stage last year, but although Kent ended up with a thirty four shot winning margin, this match was very close for most of the game.
In the first half of the game Kent held an early lead but then Dorset went ahead and gained a fifteen shot advantage before we fought back to claim an important win to take us into the semi final on March 12th.
Early in the game advantages on Ian Honnor’s, Andy Thomson’s and Shaun McCaughan’s rinks offset the other three rinks being down, but in the end there were great comebacks especially on Marc McCaughan’s rink as they fought back from 4-18 to eventually win 23-22, and that summed up the spirit in the team.
Due to various circumstances Kent had to make six changes from the previous team, but this victory showed that we have great strength in depth.

Kent vs Surrey - Liberty Report
Tuesday 19th January 2016 4:40pm | Match Reports
Kent progressed to the quarter final of the Liberty Trophy on Saturday when they defeated old rivals Surrey at Mote Park Indoor Bowls Club. Surrey arrived with a much stronger team than in recent years but the Kent team were ready for the challenge and as a team played very well. After taking a small lead after the first end, Surrey never again got in front, although at one stage they came back to within two shots but we again pulled away to lead by twenty and eventually won 115-98 with four winning rinks and two losing rinks.
The pick of the rinks was that skipped by Ian Honnor, a great addition to this year’s team, as they led the way with a 27-12 victory and Mark Johnson’s, Duncan Hanmore’s and Shaun McCaughan’s rinks all contributed with good performances. Andy Thomson’s rink when down to Ian Jenkins whilst, Perry Martin’s went down to Barry Jenkins.
Kent v Sussex Home Counties League Report
Tuesday 12th January 2016 4:11pm | Match Reports
Kent won their second group game in the Home Counties League with a comprehensive win over Sussex at Ashford Indoor bowls Club on Sunday. Having collected eighteen out of twenty two points in our first game against Hampshire it was important for us that we took advantage of this home fixture to collect valuable points to leave us in a strong position in the league before playing Surrey in the final group game in February.
